We’re Photo My Tokyo, an agency connecting travelers visiting Japan with our team of photographers.

We're looking for a professional photographer based in the Kansai area to join our team.

Must be based in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara or surroundings.
You need to be empathetic and enthusiastic. We're dealing with customers who are happy and excited about photographing important moments such as wedding proposals and traveling with their families. It's awesome work, and you should share this enthusiastic feeling.
You need to excel in written and spoken communication. Your English skills are top-notch. You can be friendly and courteous while remaining professional. You have to be great at expressing yourself, and not just rely on formal answers.
You are generally a communicative person, not just with customers. You are curious about people and things, and understand that communication is the best tool to learn.
Your photographic skills are a given. You have enough experience to deal with a range of different subjects and situations. You rely on your practice and established processes, but leave room for creativity to flourish.
You excel in invisible direction.
You understand how important social skills are to the job.

A fully-remote business. You're welcome to work from anywhere you want. We have no offices.
We use freelance, contract-based agreements that perfectly match the environment we’re all seeking. You’re free to do whatever you want with your time; you’re free to accept photoshoots or not (no questions asked).
A slow-paced environment. We strongly believe in a well-balanced life. Extra hours and urgent tasks are a big no-no. This is not a hobby, but we should all enjoy the work we do.
Joyful, friendly, enthusiastic. No one is here because they need to, but because they want to. That doesn't mean professionalism isn't highly regarded. Quite the contrary. We can enjoy friendly connections precisely because all systems are in place and working smoothly.
Global. We're a team made of people from Japan, Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, Costa Rica... Cultural differences are shared, nurtured, and encouraged.

You receive a flat fee per photoshoot executed. The amount depends on the type of photoshoot and the number of people involved.

You're fluent in English. Japanese language is welcome, but not required. A third language is super cool but just so we can brag :)
We've been doing this for 9 years. That's not long if you compare it to a classic Japanese family-owned business spanning centuries, but we take pride in knowing how to experience stuff. Numbers are cool, but we care more about the quality of what we experience.
